If we have enough copies left after distribution to journalists, will share also with interested bloggers. And yes, am planning to have an electronic version later. Maybe even a kindle version

Hi Aaleyah, It’s not yet available as the printer is delivering at an extremely slow pace. Are you a journalist?

Your book is timely and seems interesting.

Is your book ‘restricted’ to the local Mauritian context or is it supposed to be a ‘manual’ of sorts for those working in the media, wherever they may be?

Perhaps a second volume on ‘ethical journalism’ (does it exist? Can it ever EVER exist?) can investigate ethno-religious’ sensitivities when reporting?

By the way, What are your views on the non-appointment (yet again!) of Ameena Gurib-Fakim?……as your employed by the UoM, I hope that you don’t have a ‘conflict of interest’ by giving your take!

Lastly, has the e-version of your book come out yet? If so kindly post the link.

    Many thanks.

    Aziz.

      Dear Aziz,

Sorry for late approval of your comment which had landed in the spam folder. Some chapters of the book can indeed be used as a guide on how to avoid unethical reporting. As for publishing on ethno-religious influence, why not? In fact there are many angles from which one could study the issues related to journalism and democracy including first and foremost, corporate and political influence… For the time being, the book focuses on general principles that should guide the practice of journalism.

As for appointments at UOM at top management level, I am unable to comment not because I do not want to or fear to do so but rather because the only information we have at our disposal comes from media reports which is largely insufficient. One would have to go back to all the candidates’ profiles and check whether all procedures were followed for selection and interviews. Since she has filed a complaint with EOC, I guess they will do that. So let’s wait and see. The only thing I can say is that it’s not having a good impact on UOM’s image which is a pity.

The e-book is not yet out. Will post as soon as it is ready.
