I visited your blog. Great. I wished I had met you before when I was in MRU.
I am trying to build up my own blog although I am not yet satisfied with the final results.
    But you can visit it.

    Thanks,
I’ve had a look at your blog. Interesting too. Will try to visit often.

For the time being, our ‘caray’ is hot at UOM and Mauritius is becoming a difficult country to live in. Many people are wanting to leave, including us. So, how’s Canada?

I just read your blog and thought I could put in my two cents here
Most Mauritians have made it great here as bilingual jobs pay 30% more than one language jobs…
Most buy their own homes within 1-3 yrs of comeing here..
Next people are ready to do what they wouldnt have done in their homecountries albeit they might not find a job of their interest.
Those who are willing to study here stand a better chance but hey onenever knows what else is in store here EH!
Canada is a wonderful place for women…
If the woman has her head on the shoulders which has worked for most women here its fine, but mind you there are ample cases where families come here and break up here….
“almost 50% of marriages end up in divorces” Macleans magazine.
In any workplace 30-40% workforce is single so is the population of kids of single parents in schools and universities…
To some it is the perfect way to milch their spouses and enjoy life the Canadian way
To top it heres what I have read in one of the L’express editions

    EMOTIONAL BLACKMAIL

” Mo mama inn fini donn

    parol enn fami dan Moris”

Mauritian immigration in Europe or the Americas can sometime produce a very cynical type of predator, men cynically navigating between the values and privileged attitudes of these societies and those of traditional Mauritian families to better exploit naïve women. I want to warn off my Mauritian sisters against proposal which may appear genuine and alluring.

My friend believed the word of this family and she broke her marriage. She has gone through a lot in her life and she is still is going through quite an ordeal.

    R. initially met her as a friend. Within months they got very friendly and he started telling her how “mean” the world is, he accused his wife of giving him, some years back, dhokha for someone else, leaving a then 1 year old son with him. Then R. told my friend that his wife had just switched husbands, literally moving from his home to her lover’s.

In Canada this is common and not illegal.

R.’s mother also added her spices to the broth, she fuelled my friend’s ego by asking : ” How can you live with someone who cares less for you “. Under this mother-son perverse tandem’s guidance, my friend (Canadian citizen now) decided to break her long marriage and moved near his R.’s place. Initially they used to go everywhere together with the kids. Of late, he told my friend : ” If you want to meet me, don’t bring your kids ” or ” I can think of marrying you if you leave your kids or just bring one “. He also told my friend that his mother was already on the look out for possible brides from Mauritius. He nevertheless added that, since he had been married a first time, he knew how long the process takes, adding that his son could not wait any further, that he needed a mother, thus asking my friend to rapidly make her decision.

This man knew that my friend could not leave her kids and he was just playing games with her sentiments. And he kept on telling her : ” We can still meet like we used to meet before. ”

My friend is very nice, she has a good job (she upgraded her studies here) and earns more than R.. It’s precisely because she’s a successful and beautiful lady that the predator and his mother chose her. Like typical Bollywood soaps the mum would say ” To mari pas konn respekte toi beti. ” Now that she has moved on and spends on gifts for him he knows that she won’t go anywhere. I feel sorry for my friend as she was not happy in her first marriage, which is why she left. What her kids will have to go through will be even worse. (Researchers believe it won’t have much effect in North America, though those kids end up in depression, drugs and remain cut off.)

Although some of his friends suggested that he could marry another single Mauritian mother, with one child, he refused for the sole reason taht she wasn’t earning as much as my friend.

    R. pretends to guide her ” in the name of Womens rights “, so that, as he deceptively leads her to believe, she can do whatever she wants. Does he ever consider that his first wife too had the same Women’s rights in her favour ? Why did she abandon her son and never even visits him ?

That man may as well want to try his luck with some Mauritian widow or single mother of kids whose parents will ever remain obliged to him for this “favour”. If his plans fail, he knows that, as a last resort, he can marry my friend to whom he’ll impose HIS terms and conditions.

Mauritian parents, Beware. Do not fall in such traps. Life in Canada is not at all rosy. Please do a thorough check before you decide upon your daughters’ future.

We say that money is not important, but family values are. Where are those values ? Tolerance decreases once we start earning money ; divorce and extra marital affairs amongst us in Canada has shot up

I moved here many years back and I have have fond memories of my country. However, I can’t say I am proud of being Mauritian after seeing what is happening among us over here. And too many people are trying to find naïve preys to better their own lives.

I have decided to come forward with this story not to defame anyone but to try avert wrong decisions made by innocent families.

    Nathalie

PS : One doesnt have to go through an immmigration agent to get the PR here
